At its most basic, single origin means that the chocolate is made using cacao beans from one specific place or "origin".
At Luker we are passionate about single origin chocolate, because the way it is produced can be crucial for transforming cocoa-growing communities and sharing the unique stories of its producers and the region it cames from.
By using cocoa from a single source, it means we can work directly with local communities and more wealth remains within Colombia to contribute to economic development.
Our regional and emblematic single origins:
Tumaco 85%
A chocolate of exquisite character with a defined aroma, typical of Colombian cocoa. A vigorous bitter flavour and a subtle sweetness, combined with floral and fruity notes to give the ultimate expression in Extra Dark Chocolates.
Santander 65%
A single origin dark chocolate with a delicate balance between fruity and spicy notes. A fruity-flavoured chocolate with a good bitter-sweet balance and spicy, woody notes. (
Huila 65%
A chocolate with a sweet aroma, citric notes and a floral flavour, where the acidity combines with the cocoa flavour for a simply delicious result.
100% of Luker Chocolate’s portfolio is sourced with Fine Flavor Cocoa. Furthermore, our Single Origin chocolates include 4 couvertures with unique sensory profiles that express the particular climate and geographic conditions of Santander, Tumaco, Huila, and El Rosario.
Interesting fact: Our chocolate has been awarded in 2021, beating intense competition from other cocoa-growing regions and chocolate manufacturers. You can read here the Confectionery News article on the AVPA (Agency for the Valorization of Agricultural Products) Awards.
As indicated in the term, single Country means the chocolate has sourced the cocoa beans from a specific country on the list of the cocoa producers worldwide. 95% of the cocoa production in Colombia is Fine Flavour Cocoa, certified by ICCO(International Cocoa Organization).
Colombia 70%
Perú 72.5%
Ecuador 72%
In this video, Diego Cortés, our former Chief of Product Development, explains what was required to develop, what it entails, and what this formulation represents for our company and the cocoa communities we work with.
EL ROSARIO
SINGLE ESTATE
Our sustainability approach model enables us to produce a chocolate that is 100% traceable. A chocolate crafted exclusively from the production of one of our company’s farms in Necoclí, Colombia: El Rosario. The El Rosario farm is located in Necocli, a municipality that borders the Caribbean Sea to the north and west, known for its warm and humid climate. These characteristics travel through to the chocolate grown in the region, mixing between notes that evoke a delicate wine aroma, well-defined cocoa taste, subtle citric acidity
